THE ultrasound

Last night was our BIG ultrasound – the one where they do all the important measuring, finger/toe counting and sex-telling. After our first ultrasound, we were both looking forward to seeing that adorable little profile again, but Baby Knapp is growing so darn big (and snuggled so tightly in there) that we barely got to see his/her little nose smooshed up against the screen! At the very least, we saw the heart beating strong, so that is all the comforting news we really needed! So, as of May 18th, everything with Baby Knapp is A-OK! Everything is where it belongs, Baby is still kicking up a storm… BUT the doctor said he/she weighs about 2 lbs. 11 oz., which means he/she is 2 1/2 weeks ahead of schedule! We don't know yet if that means our due date will move up 2 1/2 weeks or if we'll be delivering one heck of a big baby sometime around August 21st. But I can assure you what that means for me: "C-Section City" here I come! We'll know more for sure after our doctor's appointment this coming Wednesday. The worst part for us picture whores is that we didn’t get one decent ultrasound shot. Only a true professional could identify a baby amidst all the squirming blobbery we saw! We have one that the doctor insists is of the face, but Dennis still doesn’t see it. He stares at it long and hard looking for something, and I tease him that if he stares long enough, it will eventually materialize in 3-D (remember those pictures?!). Anyhow, it was certainly an exciting day, and I think we are both more ready than we’ve ever been to have our precious Baby Knapp join our family in person. In the meantime, back to those concerns about getting this baby OUT!!!
